Data Standardization:

Core Data Elements for Case Notifications

The Council of State and Territorial Epidemiologists’ (CSTE) Data Standardization Workgroup (DSWG) brings together public health professionals from state, Tribal, local, and territorial health departments and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to standardize how disease case data is defined and shared across the country. When health departments and CDC use the same data definitions, information moves faster, comparisons across jurisdictions become possible, and public health agencies at every level can act with confidence.
