Accurate disability data<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>in public health surveillance\u00a0<\/span><\/span>has<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>not\u00a0<\/span><\/span>historically\u00a0<\/span><\/span>been<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>collected in a standardized way<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>across conditions<\/span>,\u00a0<\/span><\/span>if<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>collected<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>at all<\/span>.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span>CSTE and the Data Standardization Work<\/span>g<\/span>roup (DSWG)<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>agreed that\u00a0<\/span><\/span>a standard method of collecting\u00a0<\/span><\/span>this<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>data\u00a0<\/span><\/span>should<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>exist for\u00a0<\/span><\/span>all conditions<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>when\u00a0<\/span><\/span>disability information is\u00a0<\/span><\/span>known or applicable<\/span>, and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>developed standardized definitions<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>and\u00a0<\/span><\/span>minimum<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>core disability categories<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>for the following\u00a0<\/span><\/span>core\u00a0<\/span><\/span>data elements within the\u00a0<\/span><\/span>Disability<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Data Class:<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
