Dissability | Core Data Elements for Case Notification

Disability data in public health captures information on an individual’s functional limitations to help public health agencies understand the prevalence of disabilities, identify community needs, and assess how reportable and emerging conditions affect people with different disability types.

Accurate disability data in public health surveillance has not historically been collected in a standardized way across conditions, if collected at all.  A standard method of collecting this data should exist for all conditions when disability information is known or applicable.
